The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for coordinating warehouse activities and servicing production areas and ensuring that shipped product meets Leprino Foods guidelines and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) of outgoing product. Assists, advises, guides and directs department employees to ensure the highest possible quality product in a safe and efficient manner.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor. No employees report to the position.
The Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for the safe operation of the associated equipment and/or processes, the quality of incoming raw materials, the quality of the outgoing products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safe work practices. This position is also responsible for maintaining 5S standards, and participating in and implementing continuous improvement.
The Warehouse Team Lead must be able to communicate effectively in relaying information to team members, team leads, supervisors, and managers as applicable.
The Warehouse Team Lead must be able to read/write and perform basic mathematical functions in order to track inventory for input, to understand the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and warehouse operating manual. Approximately three months on-the-job training is necessary to become proficient in operating a forklift safely in/out of the drive-through racking and operating the computer in accessing sales orders, raw material and finished goods inventory.
The Warehouse Team Lead must be able to lift moderate weights repeatedly throughout the shift. The position holder is also required to stand/walk throughout the shift and must have the ability to work in hot, humid, and cold areas. The Warehouse Team Lead must be able to work overtime and holidays when required. The operator must be able to read/write and perform basic arithmetic in order to understand the S.O.P.’s, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safe work practices.
The Warehouse Team Lead must be able to understand the requirements of the position and successfully demonstrate proficiency in the job specific JTPRs (Job Training Progress Reports).
This position is responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan and company policies.
Oversee warehouse operations and train warehouse team members in safe operating procedures. This includes covering the duties of the operators and clerks as necessary.
Ensure accuracy of and traceability of inventory.
Coordinate and ensure accuracy of shipments and receipts.
Ensure all warehouse employees follow required safety and GMP policy and procedures. As well as proper sanitation as defined the in the master sanitation plan.
Ensure timely and accurate movement and proper rotation of supplies and raw materials in compliance with Corporate and government regulations for storage and inventory.
Conduct monthly inventory verifications(counts) and reconciliations.
Coordinate movement of trucks and availability of dock spaces.
Prepare bill of ladings, manifest, inspections forms, pallet exchange forms, receiving reports, material handling equipment inspection forms and other required shipping/receiving paperwork.
Perform work in a safe manner by following safety procedures and policies, critical safety rules, and expected standard conduct.
Knowledge and Skills
A minimum of 18 years old; ability to speak, read and write the English language; ability to evaluate and identify mechanical conditions and make adjustments or corrective action as necessary; ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs; basic math skills to be able to perform mathematical functions; ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures; ability to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety practices; ability to maintain a clean work area according to good manufacturing processes; and have good communication skills to communicate with co-workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts.
Ability to perform warehouse operator and warehouse shipping duties.
The Warehouse Team Lead must be knowledgeable of working in all the warehouse areas and staging areas for production and shipment. Good communication skills are necessary in relaying instructions to warehouse persons and production operators and department management. The incumbent will know what products can be added together, they will know all the areas of the plant and which individuals to contact in the event of problems., work in a refrigerated environment (28 degrees fahrenheit) and handle hazardous chemicals. The Warehouse Team Lead is also required to stand/walk throughout the shift.
The Warehouse Team Lead will load and unload trailers and hand stack material that can weigh 60 pounds.
Education and Experience
Basic knowledge of material handling equipment, process, palletizing, and packaging equipment, and general parts information; experience operating material handling equipment including sit down forklifts or stand up forklifts; and proficient skills in data entry, email, internet, Microsoft Office software, and computerized management systems (e.g. SAP).
Prior experience in a related leadership position.
Basic familiarity with all aspects of warehouse operations including, shipping and receiving (unloading and loading trucks), SAP or a similar inventory system, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (such as hand held bar code scanner, cycle counting, directed put away), Microsoft Word and Excel spreadsheets and 10-key, analysis/creating and reviewing and ensuring accuracy of shipping/receiving documentation of BOL, COA, and other shipping/receiving documentation.
Two years experience in similar warehouse lead position is preferred.
Experience in a dairy/food manufacturing environment is preferred.
