Overview

Under direction of the Technical Training & OD Supervisor, the Technical Training Team Lead is responsible for the coordination, execution and administration of technical training curriculum and processes at the Greeley Facility. 

Responsibilities

The Training Team Lead reports directly to the Technical Training & O.D. Supervisor. The Technical Training Team Lead is one of 6 Technical Training Team Leads. This position has a peer-based relationship with the Human Resource Admin Assistant.  In addition, the Technical Training Team Lead has a direct working relationship with the Human Resources supervisory team and Human Resources Business Partners. This position has no direct reports.

 

The Training Team Lead is responsible for the safe operation of the associated equipment and/or processes, the quality of incoming raw materials, the quality of the outgoing products in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and safe work practices.  This position is also responsible for maintaining 5S standards, and participating in and implementing continuous improvement. 

 

The Greeley plant environment is results-oriented and fast paced with rapid growth and changing needs. 

 

This position is responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan and company policies.

 

The Training Team Lead must be able to communicate effectively in relaying information to team members, team leads, supervisors, and managers as applicable.

 

The Training Team Lead must be able to lift moderate weights repeatedly throughout the shift. The position holder is also required to stand/walk throughout the shift and must have the ability to work in hot, humid, and cold areas. The Team Lead- Technical Training must be able to work overtime and holidays when required. The operator must be able to read/write and perform basic arithmetic in order to understand the S.O.P.’s, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safe work practices.

 

Training and Development

  • Works closely with the Technical Training and OD Supervisor and plant supervisors to author all supported department Plant Specific Operating Procedures (PSOPs), and other training documentation.  Ensures that new or revised PSOPs are developed in the prescribed time frame.
  • Assists in achieving the HR Training Budget.
  • Facilitates courses related to and actively participates in the On the Job Trainer program.
  • Actively manages the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Leads on floor hands on equipment training and on-boarding with employees.
  • Partners with supported departments to assist in operator Job Certification completion. 

Leprino Safety

  • Models and corrects any safety or GMP deficiencies observed while on shift, behavioral or mechanical.
  • Creates and maintains a training and revision calendar for departments to ensure completion of annual training. 

Leprino Quality

  • Tracks feedback from team leadership and problem solving classes.

Employee Relations

  • Assists with new hire orientation training on company and plant training expectations.
  • Partner with HR Supervisor and HR Generalist in coordinating on-boarding process follow-up for new employees or job transfers.
  • Establishes and maintains an accurate and employee friendly environment.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

A minimum of 18 years old; ability to speak, read and write the English language; ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs; basic math skills to be able to perform mathematical functions; ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures; ability to wear required personal protective equipment and comply with all applicable safety practices; ability to maintain a clean work area according to good manufacturing processes; and have good communication skills to communicate with co-workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts.

 

Education and Experience

Minimum 

  • An associate's degree in technical training development and facilitation, or similar field; or equivalent experience.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in training technical job knowledge to production employees in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience writing standard operating procedures and technical job training material.
  • Experience conducting classroom and hands-on technical training. 

Language and Technical Skills

  • Proficient computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office products (e.g. Word, Excel, and Powerpoint) and training media software.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing to individuals at all levels within the company.
  • Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system.
  • Ability to influence upward, laterally, and downward without any direct line authority.
  • Excellent organization skills and technical document writing skills.
  • Ability to priortize and handle multiple projects and tasks.
  • Aptitude to learn, understand and explain technical processes to others.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to determine the root cause to issues that arise, using skills of investigation, organizing thoughts and conclusions, and presenting these solutions to others.
  • Ability to deal with and understand adult learning techniques.
  • Mechanical aptitude with ability to understand and create process flow maps. 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • This position will be exposed to both an office and production environment.  Industrial setting includes both wet and dry production areas with loud noise and varying degress of temperature from freezer to extreme heat.
  • Long periods of both sedentary activity and movement (walking/standing) is required.
  • Bending, squatting and climbing of steps may be needed occasionally.
  • Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods.
