  • Overview

    The Accounting Analyst is responsible for several general day-to-day accounting practices such as cost accounting, inventory reconciliation/valuation, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting/forecasting, preparation of journal entries, and monthly close of the general ledger. The incumbent must be familiar with generally accepted accounting principles. The incumbent also acts as a backup for the Accounting Supervisor as necessary. This role will be heavily involved in analysis and trouble shooting.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the daily and monthly balancing of milk receipts with the co-ops and reporting/analysis of testing differences for all milk components. This role will also monitor problem routes and work with the co-ops on resolution of these issues. Responsible for maintaining Milk Settlement Table so reporting is accurate for final payment to Co-Ops. Communication with Corporate Accounting Supervisor is necessary.
    • Prepare weekly and month-end labor reporting for production departments. Post journal entries to reclassify labor as necessary and post month-end labor variances. Provide analysis to identify reasons for labor variances.
    • Responsible for cleaning up WIP Inventory and determining whether to use a material or make an inventory adjustment to the materials.
    • Responsible for reporting on disposition and code conversions incurred by the plant. This position will also work with other plant departments to insure charges are proper and are charged to the correct plant.
    • Responsible for month-end and analysis for all production material and labor accounts.
    • This role will be an integral part of the annual budget process and will work closely with the Controller on budget development.
    • Miscellaneous projects as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
    • Two years of experience in Accounting Department with variety of deliverables
    • Familiarity or ability to learn SAP, or similar integrated manufacturing system
    • Prior cost accounting experience
    • Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments on time with high degree of accuracy

     

    Preferred

    • Prior knowledge and/or experience in general accounting functions such as journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements, cost accounting, inventory reconciliation, and analysis and product costing
