  • Overview

    The Power & Utilities Jr. Technician is responsible for learning and applying the skills, knowledge, and ability to perform a power & utilities technician position within 18 months of employment.  This includes the safe and efficient operation of all steam, refrigeration, compressed air and support equipment. This position is also responsible for the safe repair and troubleshooting of malfunctioning electrical or instrumentation systems, the calibration of instruments, performing mechanical, preventive, and predictive maintenance, and maintaining 5S standards.  This position will participate on the hazmat response team.

     

     

    All other duties as assigned.

    Responsibilities

    Power & Utilities Junior Technician positions are physically demanding and require being on the feet the entire shift, standing and walking, kneeling for extended periods of time, working in wet/dry/cold/hot environments, working in tight spaces, climbing steps and ladders, working at extreme heights, making pipe connections, using hand tools, physically transporting parts and tools, and lifting equipment parts which can weigh up to 70 Lbs.  Must be able to work overtime and holidays when required.

     

    The Power & Utilities Junior Technician must communicate effectively with machine operators, production supervisors, outside contractors and plant maintenance personnel.  Good communication with co-workers and oncoming/outgoing shifts is also expected. 

     

    The Power & Utilities Junior Technician must understand the requirements of the position and successfully demonstrate proficiency in the job specific JTPRs (Job Training Progress Reports).

     

    This position is responsible and accountable to ensure product meets food safety and quality requirements by following the Food Safety Plan, Quality Plan and company policies.

    Qualifications

    • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
    • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
    • Must be able to work rotating shifts, off-shifts, weekends, holidays, and required overtime to support a 24 hour/7 day operation.
    • Must be able to work 12.5 hour scheduled shifts.
    • Ability to repeatedly lift throughout the entire shift meeting minimal lift requirements.
    • Ability to access elevated work areas such as climbing ladders/stairs and work at extreme heights.
    • Ability to understand and apply standard operating procedures.
