  • Overview

    This position requires responsibility for monitoring all aspects of product quality, from incoming raw materials to the finished product, and reports results to appropriate management personnel.

     

    The Quality Execution Technician must be able to understand the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), follow safe handling of hazardous chemicals, and keep accurate record-keeping as required.

    Responsibilities

    Dunk Tank

    • Operate portable oxygen / carbon dioxide analyzer, Pack-Vac leak detector, scale, and metal detectors
    • Enter performance test results into computer system
    • Complete Dunk Tank Processing Quality Control Report Worksheet each shift.
    • Track sample pounds checked
    • Enter quality alert in computer if there is a problem with the bags
    • Perform metal detector checks and enter data into computer

    Melt Lab

    • Verify oven is working properly at the start of shift and update Quality Control Daily Equipment Control Log
    • Perform hourly melt checks by making sample pizzas
    • Evaluate cut, blister %, blister size, blister interval, oil, melt, stretch, bite and flavor. Use rating to determine final grade.  Enter data in the computer system
    • Compare sample melts to production specifications on Cyberdocs
    • Weight fines and verify specifications
    • Take sample plugs of non-Leprino cheese as required
    • Pull samples from large bags to fill whirl paks to send to the lab for evaluation
    • Update Daily Ingredient Log in the computer

    Outside

    • Notify Cheese Supervisor is temperature of cheese is out of specification
    • Perform metal detector checks and enter data into computer
    • Slice sample from block of cheese, grind in Hobart and fill whirl pak to send to lab. Also, taste cheese for any noticeable out of specification flavor.  This is performed every 30 minutes and on the first and last block of cheese for each product code
    • Run bacti tests on the beginning, middle and end block of cheese for each product code.
    • Document temperature and weight of cheese sample every hour
    • Complete Processing Quality Control Report Worksheet
    • Perform hand swab of QE Technician and Line Attendant glove
    • Test sanitizer solution
    • Verify employees are wearing required PPE and complying with GMP requirements

    QE Technicians

    • Re-stock supplies
    • Perform general housekeeping in work area
    • Perform monthly calibration testing
    • Communicate promptly any out of specification results to appropriate forepersons, supervisors and managers
    • Any additional duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Minimum

    • Demonstrated ability to complete work assignments with high degree of accuracy
    • Able to read, write, and perform intermediate mathematical calculations
    • Must be able to lift at least 30lbs and climb multiple flights of steps

    Preferred

    • Prior quality control experience in the food industry
    • Familiarity with SAP or other manufacturing software system working with touch screens

     

    Language and Technical Skills

    • Good communication skills
    • Must be able to maintain accurate records
    • Familiar with Excel spreadsheets

     

    Reasoning Ability

    • Good time management skills
    • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
    • Able to interpret data and make necessary decisions

     

    Physical Demands and Work Environment

    • This position will be exposed inside ambient temperatures and may include  a wet / slippery environment with loud noise in varying degrees of temperature
    • Specific vision may be required for this position, including close vision, distance vision, color and depth perception, and the ability to read computer screens for extended time periods
    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
    • Must be albe to climb stairs hourly
