For our Denver corporate headquarters, we are seeking a Manager, R&D Test Kitchen. The Manager, R&D Test Kitchen is responsible for the efficient operation of the Product Applications Test Kitchen through the effective management of resources. This includes people development within the function, including hiring and promoting for success, technical and leadership development, performance management, organizational planning, and coaching their team on the effective evaluations of products. The Manager, R&D Test Kitchen supports the entire Global Quality, Research and Development division through the effective evaluation of products (cheese and whey) for specified functional attributes. This position leads a team of 8-12 Technicians and Associate Scientists assuring product evaluations are done in a timely and accurate manner. This position has a strong knowledge of our products, product requirements, and the customer application these products are used under. In addition, this position ensures smooth and accurate evaluations of products so that product acceptability can be determined against defined product specific performance requirements.

Leadership

  • Manages staff and departmental resources to ensure the completion of assigned projects and routine deliverables are met in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
  • Accomplishes staff results by communicating job expectations; hiring and promoting for success; appraising job results; training and coaching employees; developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
  • Identifies and monitors key performance indicators for department such as: quality of customer service, staff proficiency, dependability of results, and plant support.

Test Kitchen

  • Oversees the effective management, organization, and utilization of resources in the Product Applications kitchen through planning, scheduling, validation, and communication of finished product testing.
  • Manages kitchen efficiencies and structure.
  • Ensures the evaluation methods being provided are accurate and being followed.
  • Schedules the use of the Application Kitchen resources.
  • Keeps the Product Applications Test Kitchen fully stocked, cleaned and organized to company standards.

Prevents Problems Before They Happen

  • Prevents Problems Before They Happen through training, continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities.
  • Identifies opportunities before they become a problem focusing on root cause analysis and preventative action.
  • Develops formal standard operating procedures used to train staff and plant personnel when new processes or formulations are created.
  • Works closely with internal customers to ensure that food safety is being designed into new products and processes; and that all regulatory, labeling, and import requirements are met; and that LFC products and ingredients have robust specifications that our processes are capable of meeting.

Return on Investment Capital (ROIC) Improvement

  • Improves the Company ROIC via increased productivity, asset utilization, waste reduction and margin enhancement.

You Have (Mandatory Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in food technology, food science, dairy science, microbiology, or chemistry
  • At least eight years of experience in an institutional kitchen
  • At least two years of leadership/people development experience
  • At least three years of food manufacturing, product development or quality assurance experience in the dairy segment
  • Experience with Stage Gate and project management principals
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite (especially Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint & Word), and general computer skills; SAP preferred

 

At Leprino Foods, starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $95,009.20 and $114,011.04.
