For our Denver corporate headquarters, we are seeking a Senior Manager, Genomics. The Senior Manager, Genomic Laboratory is a key thought leader for the for the company in the areas of microbiology, virology, genomics, and food safety.  They support people development within the Global Research, Development & Quality Division through technical and leadership development, and organization planning. The Senior Manager, Genomic Laboratory is a key leader in the process of ideation and advanced research activities to provide the science and technologies required to achieve innovation in the Cheese and Nutritional Businesses as well as our Human Health medical support and research.  The incumbent has a vision on what new technologies will be needed to support our businesses of the future and actively partners with external resources and suppliers to realize those opportunities by transforming science, research concepts and emerging technologies into commercialized products, processes, and methodologies. The Senior Manager, Genomic Laboratory fosters the spirit of LQ and innovation through all levels and functions of the organization.  They champion new, disruptive innovations regardless of the source of the idea. The Senior Manager, Genomic Laboratory should possess a technical background in food science, food engineering, genomics, virology, or microbiology. Intimate knowledge of and passion for innovation, quality and food safety methods and techniques, continuous improvement methods and statistical process control techniques.

  • Champions division initiatives and operates as a subject matter expert in applicable technologies, policies, programs, and systems.
  • Identifies and internalizes new technologies that drive ROIC and enhanced food safety and quality
  • Serves on technical committees and external industry boards that provide benefit to the company through thought sharing and technology development.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for genomics, microbiology, virology, and immunology for the company.
  • Subject matter expert for challenge studies and validation studies of new technologies and products.

Leadership

  • Implement the Company’s strategic plan to ensure supply innovation excellence in a global marketplace as LFC expands its business domestically and internationally. 
  • Strong business acumen and intellectual curiosity that transcends the Research & Development organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and impact upon other parts of the organization as well as outside stakeholders (customers, financial institutions, industry peers, regulators and legislators, community organizations, etc).
  • Serves as a technical mentor and coach to the junior scientists and engineers in the company

You Have (Mandatory Qualifications):

  • 5+ years of laboratory management or graduate level work with a Master’s degree; or 8+ years of laboratory management or graduate level work with a Bachelor’s degree
  • Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or PHD in food science, food engineering, microbiology, virology, or genomics
  • Experience with statistical data analysis to assist Quality Assurance (QA), Food Safety, R&D and manufacturing with results interpretation and data analysis

At Leprino Foods, starting compensation for this role typically ranges between $121,625.00 and $148,990.00.
